Get active. The CPRE have put together this excellent website, Planning Help, to help you understand the planning process, including eight simple steps to guide you through commenting on a planning application.
Take a look at our District News pages. We often publish details of comments and objections our members have made here. They are a useful template for your own letters and give an idea of what concerns you need to raise when contacting local authorities.
Take a look at your Local Plan. This sets out the guidelines your local authority has set for development in your area. Does the development you're concerned contradict the standards and priorities established in your Local Plan?
If you have particular concerns, contact your local councillor or MP. This website, WriteToThem, can provide you with useful contact details.
Spread the word. Contact your friends. If you're good at social media, we have a Twitter stream and and Facebook page. Write to your local newspaper.
You could even write a blog about the issues you're concerned about.
