CPRE Sussex AGM 2018

Our 2018 AGM was a great success at the home of the South Downs National Park in Midhurst.

The Sussex branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England is urging Adur District Council to suspend its decision on plans to build an IKEA superstore and 600 new homes in Lancing following a formal request for government intervention.

The Arun District Local plan - with a housing requirement of at least 1,000 homes a year (or 20,000 homes by 2031) has been found sound despite the examining inspector highlighting the "significant negative effects" of its housing allocation policies on the environment.

An unprecedented open letter has been sent to Adur District Council urging it to cancel this month’s crunch meeting on proposals for a major new development including an IKEA superstore at New Monks Farm in Lancing.

Making Places: Ford, West Sussex

In June CPRE Sussex took part in a weekend workshop with the residents of the village of Ford in West Sussex. The aim of the workshop was to look at the proposed design for the development of the Ford airfield site, to gain community input on the plans and to produce revised proposals and drawings based on the outcome of the workshops.

After recent confusion over plans for a new dual carriageway between Lewes and Polegate announced by local MPs Maria Caulfield and Stephen Lloyd, South Coast Alliance for Transport and the Environment (SCATE), the Folkington Estate and RH & RW Clutton presented to a ‘full house’ at Selmeston Village Hall on June 12th to talk about what is being proposed.
