GUIDED WALK around A27 Arundel bypass options 3 and 5

Sunday 17th September
10.30am – 12.30pm
Meet at junction of Dalloway Road, Torton Hill Road Arundel

A gentle walk organised by Arundel SCATE along part of proposed routes in the South Downs National Park, with a stop for refreshments. Dogs on leads and children able to walk for an hour are welcome

Highways England has identified three routes options for the A27 Arundel bypass. It is gathering public views on these options now before deciding on which route to take forward. Consultation runs from 22nd August to 16th October.

Have your say

Two of Highway England options, 3 and 5a, cut through the Arun Valley water meadows, ancient woodland and the South Downs National Park. You can read about all the route options and comment at:

A27 – Better not bigger!

Arundel SCATE supports alternative proposals including the single carriageway 'New Purple' route – significantly improving traffic flow without increasing capacity. Increased road capacity increases traffic volume, so is ideally avoided.

The New Purple route follows the Highways England option 1 route alignment, but not its design.

As a far lower cost road option, funds could be released for other transport measures, making a package to reduce traffic and improve access around Arundel and along the south coast.

This is more effective in the long term and avoids damage to local business, our landscape and wildlife.
