CPRE Sussex

The government is reviewing an important piece of policy that could change the shape of the English countryside for ever. It is rewriting the National Planning Policy Framework – the rules that determine what kind of houses are built, where they go, and whether it is communities or developers who are at the heart of those decisions.

Missing affordable homes in Sussex

Developers are exploiting a loophole in the planning system to reduce the number of affordable homes they are building in Sussex.

CPRE Sussex submitted a response to the DfT Major Roads consultation. We believe that there should be a wider plan for connectivity and investment in new roads or bypasses should be just one piece of this bigger picture. We are also concerned that the environmental and safety elements of proposals are so limited. You can download our full response below.

CPRE Sussex submitted a response to the West Sussex County Council and South Downs National Park Joint Minerals Local Plan proposed modifications consultation. We were only able to comment on the modifications.

Following the Government Inspector’s hearings at the ADC offices late last year, the Council produced a set of Modifications to the Local Plan. They were formulated considering the representations and comments made by participants that voiced their objections at the hearing and the inspector’s initial findings.
