Local Matters
The many Local Plans which currently guide the detail of development across Sussex are also being phased out. These will be replaced by Local Development Frameworks (LDF) which are a suite of documents that consider all apsects of local development. Stakeholder consultation plays a key role in the development of these documents and it is essential that CPRE has its say in how we want our local area to develop.
Currently our volunteers scruntinise weekly planning lists for their area considering them against CPRE Policy in the context of their Local Plan. Their local knowledge enables them to make recommendations on planning applications they wish to support or have concerns about. Their involvement will be of even greater importance as LDFs emerge.
Our members are our eyes and ears and maintain a constant vigil against unsustainable development across Sussex . We also support development proposals where we believe it will meet the needs of the local communitiy, such as urban renewal or improved community services.
If you are interested in local planning matters go to our District Groups section to find out what is happening in your area.
