Sun 31 May, 2.30pm: Guided Elm Walk

Celebrating the joy and value of trees

May 29 – 31 and June 06 – 07

Celebrate the extraordinary beauty and value of our trees in Sussex with the Tree Festival 2026!

2:30pm – 4:30pm Eastbourne
Join us for a guided two-hour stroll starting from Towner Eastbourne in Devonshire Park. Led by a local expert, it will take in some of the town’s rare and magnificent elm trees and tell the story of their planting by Victorian planners and their unlikely survival – most of the nation’s elms were decimated by Dutch Elm Disease in the 1970s. We will walk at a gentle pace through Meads to Old Town via the golf course, before returning to Towner via Gildredge Park.

Meet: outside the Towner Gallery, at junction of College Road and Carlisle Road, Eastbourne
