CPRE Sussex helps secure Women’s Rugby World Cup green legacy for Brighton
A tree has been planted in Brighton & Hove for each of the 16 teams competing in this year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup.
Brighton and Hove Albion Stadium will host two Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 matches in September.
As part of its Environmental Sustainability Programme, World Rugby awarded a grant to Brighton and Hove Albion for tree planting schemes to leave a green legacy in the city.
The 16 trees have been planted in streets and public places across the city, including at Patcham Peace Garden.
CPRE Sussex and Brighton & Hove City Council have been partners in the initiative to ensure each tree has been planted in the ideal location, taking account of community needs, species suitability, and the characteristics of the planting site.
