CPRE Sussex stands up for scenic landscape at Hellingly
Proposed construction of new access at Shawpits Fam, Mill Hill, Hellingly BN27.
Application WD/2026/1718/F is for a new access road and closure of the existing access.
The existing access has been the only access to the farm for over 50 years, and is clearly quite satisfactory. As a stand-alone proposal, rather than part of application WD/2026/1679/MAO, justification is needed for why the existing access is not suitable.
The application lacks details including width throughout its length, and construction.
The proposed road would have adversely affect the listed Shawpits Farm and its rural setting.
Overall this is a proposal to build a new road across a scenic landscape causing real harm with no proper reason or benefit identified.
CPRE Sussex asks that the application should be refused.
