Cuckfield development is unsustainable and contrary to planning policies
CPRE Sussex would support a decision by Mid Sussex Council to refuse this planning application for development in the countryside near Cuckfield.
DM/23/ 2866 is an outline planning application to develop 1,450 houses and other buildings and Infrastructure on farmland east of Ansty Way, Cuckfield Bypass Cuckfield, West Sussex. There is also a linked application (DM/23/2867) to develop nearby countryside into ‘parkland’.
The CPRE Sussex objections to this application are based on the twin premises that (a) development must be sustainable and (b) growth and change should be Plan led, not developer imposed. It is the District Plan Review process, not this speculative developer application, that should determine where future strategic development should take place.
