New trees for Brighton’s North Laine
New trees planted in heart of Brighton
At Brighton’s heart is the North Laine, a unique vibrant mix of residents and independent retailers attracting and serving the whole of the city and its many visitors.
The area’s traditional strip land ownership and rapid 19th century development left little scope for tree planting in the past, as a consequence there are less than 25 mature street trees scattered around the whole 40 acre area.
The CPRE Sussex Plant Your Postcode project has been working with the North Laine Community Association and the Council to change that!
Three lovely new trees were planted in March 2023 and we are continuing to help residents to plan more planting to green the area for the future.
The North Laine Community Association donated towards the planting of the trees.
