Submission guidelines: ‘I love this tree because…’ 2026

Celebrating the joy and value of trees

May 29 – 31 and June 06 – 07

Celebrate the extraordinary beauty and value of our trees in Sussex with the Tree Festival 2026!

Celebrate the wonderful diversity and lives of trees. Inspire, inform and advocate for them. Submit a photograph of your favourite tree or trees.

Expand your vision, creatively extend the brief to include, for example, wildlife, buildings and people or take another approach and visually express the feelings and emotions that can be aroused by trees. We are looking for evocative, inspiring pictures taken at meaningful moments.

If you elect to concentrate on individual elements of a tree, please also submit a ‘portrait’ of the tree or trees.

Your chosen tree/s must be found anywhere in Sussex.

They can be in a town, village, city, in open countryside or an urban green space.

There are two categories.

Rising Stars, for young photographers 18 and under, and the CPRE Sussex Photography Award for those 19 and over.

The overall winner will be selected from either category.

First prize is £100 with a £50 prize for the winner in each category.

The shortlisted finalists’ work will be exhibited in venues across Sussex including Brighton’s Jubilee Library Foyer Gallery in June. Selected work will also be shown on the CPRE Sussex website gallery.

Submission deadline: Thursday 28th May by 11.59pm
