Crawley Draft Local Plan – representations on water issues

CPRE Sussex has raised concerns about the approach to water issues in the Crawley District draft local plan.

CPRE Sussex is concerned that the plan seems not to recognise that whether Crawley Borough’s need for potable water can be fully met over the plan period is uncertain, and therefore not assured. The plan should adopt a precautionary approach to this vital issue.

CPRE Sussex strongly recommends that Policy SDC4: Water Neutrality: stipulates that offsetting must be in place before water demand is generated, for instance before new houses are occupied.
