CPRE Sussex Festival of Spring – shaping a greener future for Sussex

A series of online talks between January and March on topics ranging from protecting and restoring chalk grassland landscapes ti rewilding an urban garden.

Visit to Sussex Landscape exhibition, Pallant House Gallery, Chichester

A beautiful exhibition celebrating the wonderful Sussex landscape which has inspired artists for centuries – from some of our greatest landscape artists like Constable and Turner to contemporary artists working in the area today.

Ticket included private presentation by an exhibition guide followed by entry to view the artworks.

A walk with local landscape expert, Dr Geoffrey Meade – Discovering Berwick & Alciston – the Downland scarpfoot of chalk & flint, sand & clay ….and Bloomsbury artists

Wheatfield near Berwick

Sand, clay and chalk are the bedrocks of this district in the Downland scarpfoot, and we encounter them all … twice on this walk!

Exploration of Slaugham in the High Weald – the High Weald landscape of wood, water, iron and sand…and Lord Nelson!

A walk in the High Weald, over sandstone and clay, so expect some steep slopes, mud, lots of trees and a Furnace Pond…or two!

Visit to Sussex Prairie Gardens in the heart of Sussex & meet the owners and creators 

Private visit beginning with an introductory talk, followed by a guided tour of the gardens with Head Gardener, looking at the plant combinations and plants in more detail.
