Installation of solar farm north of Huddlestone Farm, Steyning
CPRE Sussex has objected to the planning application because of the severe impact on the rural landscape.
The application (DC/22/0100) requires 42.2 ha of land for the installation of a solar farm with associated infrastructure, north of Huddlestone Farm, Horsham Road, Steyning, West Sussex.
A previous application for a solar farm at this site was dismissed by the Secretary of State for reasons including ‘sweeping views
across a parkland-like landscape and their seamless integration with the rising slopes of the South Downs National Park would be lost to an unforgiving utilitarian aspect’.

CPRE Sussex has also lodged a supplementary representation expressing concern that a whole-life carbon assessment has not been provided for this application.
