Let’s get a gold standard planning system for Sussex

14th January 2021

CPRE is calling on the government to develop a planning system that puts people, and tackling the climate and ecological emergencies, at its heart. And you can add your voice.

Working with 17 other organisations, CPRE has today launched a Joint vision for planning. This is a new, solution-focused vision, laying out what a planning system fit for the 21st century will look like.

The new vision has been produced in response to the government’s Planning for the Future White Paper, published in August 2020.

We all deserve a home we can genuinely afford to live in, access to nature and to have a say in shaping the communities around us. Our new collective vision provides a gold standard for the government to achieve for the planning system.

In December, the government announced that it would revise the housing algorithm that had caused widespread concern throughout many circles – including the government’s own MPs. We still have concerns about the way housing need will be calculated, as well as concerns about the government’s damaging proposals for the planning system. CPRE, with other organisations, will continue to call for dramatic improvements to the government’s planning policies before it drafts new planning laws during 2021.

You can sign CPRE’s petition to stop the government taking decision-making powers away from your local community and giving them to developers:
