Response to Reg 18 Consultation on the Wealden Local Plan
In meeting its housing target Wealden DC should be avoiding adversely impacting designated biodiversity sites and irreplaceable habitats; protected landscape of South Downs National Park and High Weald National Landscape,; and designated heritage assets and areas at risk from flooding
The response focuses on the housing target. The government’s ‘Standard Method’ produces an entirely unrealistic housing requirement for Wealden of a total of 24769 new dwellings to be delivered at the rate of 1457 dwellings a year. The response also comments on the suitability of proposed site allocations for development.
