CPRE Sussex responds to launch of Gatwick Judicial Review
CPRE Sussex has backed a Judicial Review into the Secretary of State for Transport’s decision to approve a second runway at Gatwick Airport.
The Judicial Review was served by campaign group CAGNE today (Monday, 3rd November).
CPRE Sussex director Paul Steedman said: “The government’s decision is the latest in a series of assaults on the Sussex countryside. Climate change is the single biggest threat to our countryside. The expansion of Gatwick Airport will significantly increase greenhouse gas pollution, while also bringing more noise, congestion and air pollution to neighbouring communities and protected landscapes. We cannot let this pass without a fight. We stand ready to support CAGNE in its efforts to fight the appalling decision to approve Gatwick Airport expansion.”
