Sussex charity responds to latest planning policy update
New NPPF seemingly has no real improvements on environmental protections, local democracy, water or affordable housing.
A Sussex charity has said the latest version of a national planning policy still seems to include ‘troubling elements’ which previously led it to sound the alarm.
CPRE Sussex had been running a campaign throughout August calling for changes to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
Yesterday (17 August) the government unexpectedly published an updated version of the plan.
However, the charity said the new version did not appear to have made improvements in vital areas including environmental protections, local democracy, water or affordable housing.
Nancy Duckels, campaigns and communications manager at CPRE Sussex, said: “We are reviewing this new document to see if any of the desperately needed improvements have been made. However, it appears the NPPF still poses a very real threat to the countryside. Thank you to everyone who joined us in calling for change to protect our Sussex countryside and communities. We could not do what we do without your support.”
