Projects completed or underway in Brighton – Update May 2021

Sylvan Hall Community Orchard

We planted 8 fruit trees and a native hedge around the site in February 2021.

West Hove School

We contributed funding towards an evergreen hedge to reduce pollution in the school playground, the hedge was planted in November 2020.

Wellsbourne Community Garden – Whitehawk.

We worked with the Permaculture Trust to develop planting plans and plant selections. The Healthcare CIC have begun planting the fruit trees and plan to complete the planting of 15 major trees and 40 fruit and nut trees in the coming planting season.

Preston Manor

Preston Manor volunteers will be planting 3 trees in the Manor’s Edwardian Walled Garden. The trees are being stored for planting autumn 2021.

Bristol Estate

We are planting 20 street and amenity trees in two phases starting in autumn 2021

Bulstrode Farm, Ovingdean

We have an approved plan for a copse of approximately 17 native forest trees and 32 understory trees to be planted to mask industrial agricultural buildings on the city fringe.

The next stage is to apply for funding from the South Downs National Park Trust for planting in autumn 2021.
