Gatwick Airport already has a major impact on the Sussex countryside and we oppose further expansion.
More flights would increase air pollution and contribute to global warming. Noise pollution from flights, which already blights areas of the Sussex countryside, would also increase. Expansion would boost demand for housing and supporting infrastructure in an area already under pressure. With over-stretched rail links, road traffic would inevitably increase.
There is an alternative – we support more sustainable transport options to reduce numbers of short-haul flights and avoid the need for increased airport capacity.
