Celebrated the immense value of trees
June 14-15 and 21-22
The Tree Festival 2025 highlighted the extraordinary beauty and value of our trees across the Sussex Living Coast.
Running over two weekends in June, the Tree Festival 2025 offered a host of free events for everyone to enjoy – from talks and walks to poetry and music.
The Tree Festival was supported by CPRE Sussex, the countryside charity, volunteers and local groups. It was sponsored by Connick Tree Care, Rampion Offshore Wind and The Living Coast.

June 7: 2.30 & 3.30 Gardening for a sustainable future - Two talks
Balance in the garden by Dr Steve Milliam The Urban Forest by Dr Richard Stow
9 June, 7.30pm: Sing A Song of Sussex
Ropetackle Storytellers hosts tale teller Heidi McNie with a collection of dark, magical, funny and enchanting stories inspired by local legend and folklore.
14 June, 10am: Branch Out – The Tree Festival Symposium
We need trees & trees need us! Inspirational speakers paint the big picture. With Susan Raikes, Tony Whitbread, Juliet Sargeant, Paul Wood and more.
June 14, from 10am: Newhaven’s trees exhibition
Their value to town, nature and the future. The exhibition covers the ecological and cultural services provided by our town’s urban and semi-rural trees.
June 14, 1.30 & 2.30pm: Trees in surprising places – Two tree tours
Join Rob Tomlinson for a guided tree tour and find out why the Cemetery and Local Wildlife Site in Worthing’s town centre has over twenty species of tree
14 June, 2.00pm. Dawn Casey- A children's book event
Dawn will read from My Friend Tree, told in minimal and poetic rhyming text from folktale with soft, romantic artwork from illustrator Geneviève Godbout,
June 14, 7pm: Kate Bradbury - author event
Kate Bradbury will discuss her book, "The Tree in My Garden,"
June 14, 3pm: Stanmer's Wonderful Woods
Enjoy a guided walk through the woods and find out more about the ecology and history of Stanmer’s trees.
June 15, 2pm: Make an Insect Hotel! Workshop
Learn how insects and trees work together and make homes for insects to support biodiversity.
