The government has announced that the A27 Arundel Bypass will be delayed to the 2025 to 2030 Road Investment Strategy (RIS 3).
It has acknowledged that the A27 Arundel Bypass faces ‘a range of challenges including environmental considerations and ongoing scope and design changes to ensure stakeholders’ views are fully considered.’
CPRE Sussex welcomes this change of heart. We’re pleased to see that environmental issues and local concerns are being noted by decision-makers.
We hope that this marks the beginning of the end for the current ill-considered scheme, and a return to the drawing board.
What Sussex really needs is a transport approach that protects the countryside and puts climate considerations at its heart.
