Event: Be inspired by project enhancing Sussex chalk grassland and wildlife

19th January 2023

Changing Chalk: Alice Parfitt (Buglife) 7pm Thursday 26 January is the first event in the online CPRE Sussex Festival of Spring – shaping a greener future for Sussex.

Changing Chalk is an exciting four-year partnership project focusing on the chalk grassland landscape of the South Downs, Sussex and the communities of the coastal fringe between Brighton and Hove, Eastbourne and Lewes. Buglife is leading on three projects within the partnership, to address the challenges in protecting and enhancing this fragile chalk grassland for future generations and connecting people with nature.

Find out all about these amazing projects – improving chalkland for our wild pollinators, working with vineyards to develop sustainable vines and creating a species recovery programme for the stunning Wart-biter bush-cricket. This species is known from just six sites in the UK, four of which are within the Changing Chalk project area!
