Help us to fight a 2nd Gatwick runway at the Planning Inquiry
Stopping a 2nd Gatwick runway means getting serious about the Planning Inquiry. We need to employ a barrister and expert witnesses.
Gatwick Airport’s planned second runway will be bad for local residents, bad for the Sussex countryside and – through its climate change impacts – bad for the wellbeing of people across the planet, now and in the future.
Thousands of new flights aren’t compatible with protecting the peace and cleanliness of our local communities – and they certainly aren’t compatible with cutting our carbon emissions.
The Airport is seeking permission to ‘upgrade’ its emergency runway into a second, full-time one, through something called a Development Consent Order. This means there will be a Planning Inquiry into the proposals, before the Government has the final say.
The Inquiry is highly technical, involving thousands of documents and relying heavily on legal expertise. Gatwick will have a big, expensive legal team to make their case – it’s hard for local communities to compete.
That’s why we’re working with local group the Campaign Against Gatwick Noise and Emissions, CAGNE, who are planning to fund a barrister and expert witnesses to make the case against Gatwick’s proposals.
This is a David vs Goliath fight, and every penny will help present the powerful arguments against a second runway in the most compelling way possible.
To contribute to CAGNE’s £25,000 target, please go to https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/sally-pavey and give what you can.
Thank you for your help. Together we can stop aviation expansion at Gatwick.
